Intravascular Imaging Outperforms Angiography in PCI Revascularization

09 Oct 2023

Dr. Chadi Alraies spoke with Professor Gregg Stone (Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai – New York, United States of America) about a groundbreaking real-time meta-analysis presented this year at ESC 2023. This study delved into the effectiveness of three different guiding techniques for PCI revascularization: Optical Coherence Tomography (OCT), Intravascular Ultrasound (IVUS), and conventional angiography. The comprehensive analysis reached a pivotal conclusion, shedding light on the superior outcomes associated with IVUS and OCT-guided PCI when compared to angiography-guided procedures. These findings underscore the pivotal role of intravascular imaging in optimizing stent outcomes and enhancing patients’ long-term prognoses post-PCI, promising a transformative impact on interventional cardiology.
